SHORT BIOGRAPHY
Haddis Alemayehu – HaddinQo (Addis Ababa, 1991) is a professional MasinQo player. He began teaching himself this 3000-years old Ethiopian one-string instrument in 2008, and since then has been leading the revival of the MasinQo in the context of the Ethiopian music scene. He is the co-founder and member of the Moseb Band. He recently launched the global movement “One String One World” and founded a new fusion band, Feshta Groove. HaddinQo has been performing on Ethiopian and international stages since 2013, exploring jazz, blues, bluegrass, rock, pop, reggae, latino, afrobeats, ethno, classical, amapiano. He performed with the Holland Symphony Orchestra at the Souk Festival in Amsterdam, at Paris Fashion Week for the brand Wales Bonner, at the Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony in Oslo, at the Gent Jazz Festival with Dr. Mulatu Astatke, father of ethio-jazz. HaddinQo wishes to promote the Ethiopian music culture through his unique MasinQo playing style, continue collaborating with musicians worldwide and exploring new music styles. He sees the world playing MasinQo by 2050!
