Antonio Mazzei

SHORT BIOGRAPHY
Antonio Mazzei is an award-winning pianist and producer from Venezuela. After receiving a scholarship, he attended the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York City.
Mazzei, with three albums as a leader and numerous collaborations as a sideman and recording artist, has worked with renowned musicians such as Paquito D’Rivera, Thana Alexa, Antonio Sánchez, Marta Gómez, Rubén Blades, and Steve Khan. Additionally, he has served as a producer for various songwriting projects, including for Nella, the 2019 Latin Grammy Best New Artist, Luz Pinos’ Mariposa Azul, which won a 2018 Independent Music Award, and Camila Perez’s Souvenir.
In 2016, he established the Chroma Project with artist Sheyla Tohme and nine notable photographers, including Caterina Di Perri and Vasco Szinetar. This multidisciplinary initiative blends improvisational music with photography and visual arts.
In 2022, the Antonio Mazzei Trio released the album Casa, featuring Doug Weiss and David Xirgu, and produced by former Jazz Messenger Jean Toussaint. Mazzei has contributed to several Grammy Award-nominated albums. He has taught at the School of Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York City and currently teaches at
the Conservatori Superior de Música Liceu in Barcelona, where he resides.
